Big Bad Wolf (Pack Mentality 3) by Julia Talbot

In the previous two book of the series (which unfortunately I haven't read yet) Steve may have questioned his sexuality. Now he obstinately claim he is not gay and he doesn't like men... but his body likes very much a man, and not a common man, but the alpha of his pack.

Kamen has smelled the fear of Steve, but also his desire and this is a scent he likes very much. And he has decide that he wants Steve, and what he wants he obtains. With a skilled game of seduction, he will bring Steve to the point of no possible refusal, but in the pack someone is not happy with an alpha who prefers men amongst women.

Steve is like a baby in a candy shop: the mum says him not to eat too candy, but they are all around him... so is Steve with Kamen, he knows he can't taste him, cause one little taste will not be enough...

A really interesting but short tale, the game of seduction of Kamen is really funny. I have the feeling that Julia Talbot has not yet finished with these characters...

Natural Selection (Pack Mentality 4) by Julia Talbot

Ryan, a werewolf, and Loyal, a werebear, have a pretty good life together. They live in the Mesa, Colorado, and everything could be perfect, if not that Ryan, being a wolf, is a pack being, and he misses the pack life.

So when Kamen moves his pack near them, Ryan is drawn to them like a magnete. Ryan is a bit careless, Loyal is more cautious, and also Kamen is not so willing to let a stranger near his pack. But when Loyal is captured in his bear form, Ryan can only ask help to Kamen and his wolfes.

The story is pretty short, less than 40 pages, but it's funny and enjoyable. Loyal is big and tender, he needs few things in life, food and sex, with food perhaps in first line before sex. Ryan is a cute guy, nice and friendly. The story is a nice addendum to the Pack Mentality series, but maybe is better if you read it with the others of the series.

Dale Lazarov is best known as the writer/editor of Sticky (in collaboration with illustrator Steve MacIsaac) and Manly (in collaboration with Amy Colburn) published by Bruno Gmuender Verlag.

Best-selling author Clive Barker described Sticky as "Sexy, stylish, minimalist...an intense mixture of erotic realism and the freedom of comics storytelling makes Sticky a pleasure to have in one hand."

A story from Sticky is included in Best Erotic Comics 2008 (Last Gasp, November 2007). Dale's collaboration with erotic artist Drubskin, "The Welcome Back Fuck", was featured in Best Gay Erotica 2007 (Cleis Press, November 2006). Dale's also the writer/editor of FANCY, a gay erotic webcomic drawn by Delic Van Loond and published weekly at AdultWebcomics.com.

After Sticky and Manly the master of sexual pantomime shows this time with Swedish artist Bastian Jonsson on Nightlife how men seduce men: sweet, romantic, and very direct.

Nightlife )

Nightlife by Dale Lazarov & Bastian Jonsson, November 2009

Dale's busy collaborating with illustrators on several forthcoming titles of gay erotic comics: Foxy Andy on Chums, Theo Bain on Greek Love, and Mioki on Power Pop Boys. Dale's dream is to be the Stan Lee of a line of chic hardcovers of man-on-man erotic comics full of carnality and sweetness. He loves comics illustrators and they love him back. Dale currently lives and works in Chicago.

One of the next stories of Dale will be illustrated by my Italian friend Laura "Zel" Carboni, who, btw, has also illustrated a cover for a yaoi novel by Jet Mykles that will be released by MLR Press. Just because, one of the wonderful works by Laura:

The werewolves of Lila Dubois are were fashion and trendy: they party in WeHo nightclubs, dancing on pedestals, they live on the hills, in villas with private pools, and if they decided to leave the pack, they become the favourites of rag magazines and erotic artist muses. It’s a feast for the eyes to read about them, and where usually werewolves are worried about boring things like life threats and blood splattering, these werewolves instead worry more for how is the last trend for jeans and if purple makes them look too gay. They even use their paranormal skill to do better moves on the dancing floor!

Joke aside, this is a nice novella if you want to spend sometime in a comfortable zone, reading about guys who enjoy themselves. There is just a little of serious matter when Micah remembers how he was forced to leave his pack to become the Guardian of another one: Micah was gay and a gay werewolf can’t be a leader, he can be only the enforcer of an Alpha. And so Micah grew up with James’ pack, changing from gauntly teenager to hunky man while James, lean, blond and beautiful like an angel, made a reputation as playgay in Europe. If Micah feels something more for James, it’s something that can’t lead to anything: first of all I have the idea that Micah, even if stronger and savvier than James, doesn’t consider himself at his same level; and second, James is not boyfriend material, and he has also a reputation of being a cheater, two things that, from Micah’s perspective, all boy-next-door type, are unforgivable.

Obviously this is a romance, and obviously, like in the old-fashioned romance, the bad boy is not so bad, and the boy-next-door will teach him the importance of family and of a steady relationship. And if the good boy-next-door goes wild in the sack, well, it’s a good sign that James will not have to worry of being bored again, he will have no time to search distraction outside their relationship.
