From novel to movie

This is a game I would like to play with all my friends. Have you ever read a book, and in the end your lasting feeling was, How I'd like to see this made into a movie?, I bet you have, and so I want to hear you. The game is simple, lets assume we have a limited budget, so of course we cannot do the millionaire budget Sci-Fi/Paranormal blockbuster, but we can do a comedy, a contemporary story, something with 2/3 local setting. Movies like: STRAPPED (2010); REDWOODS (2009); HOLLYWOOD JE T’AIME (2009); LATTER DAYS (2003); MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY (2009); THE TRIP (2002). We want a fun, romantic story, a good story about love, community and friendship.

Of course I did the same game in my mind and I came out with some ideas (some novels that I know were born as screenplays, for example); plus I thought, well, we have a good source, the Rainbow Awards! Why don't consider all the last 3 years winners in the Contemporary, Coming of Age/Young Adult, Mystery/Thriller and Romance categories (I did remove some title with International location or Historical setting due to the "local" requirement)? So I have a poll you can use, but I will also leave 1 open answer, so that you can add a title if you like. And I would much appreciate if you also leave a comment, explaining why you think your suggestion is good, if it's matching the requirements, and so on so far. Actually it's not really important how many votes 1 entry will receive, it's more important that the vote is rightly motivated.

Remember this is a fun game, no competition here, it's only to braimstorming our minds together ;-) But well, Somthing Like Summer by Jay Bell WILL be made into a movie, so dreaming is not impossible.
