I had some exitation reading this novel since I had the wrong feeling it was a lot more dark then what in the end it was. Now don't get me wrong, one of our heroes has not an easy time and I will not wish what he went through neither to my enimy, but Chris is a lot stronger than how he appears and he managed to come out with flying colors.

A disowned child, Chris didn't react well and tried to kill himself; he was hospitalized and then he managed to create a new good life for him and for the daughter he unexpectedly received as a gift from a troubled female friend. Brianna is probably the reason why Chris did good till now and when she disappears along with Chris's domestic partner, Chris is almost ready to give up.

Meet Jason. A former FBI agent, Jason has a soft spot for children and when he sees a case of abusing on young kids, he cannot excuse himself. If then Jason is gay, and Chris a really handsome man, that is not really the reason why Jason offers to help but only an added bonus. Indeed this is not really a romance, even if the romantic component is there in the background and Jason and Chris make a nice couple.

As I said, Chris has not an easy time, but in the end everything moves quickly once Jason enters the scene, and Chris, along with the reader, will be able to arrive to the core of his troubles and have finally a resolution to all of them. It's only realistic that, until he is not able to see an end, he cannot allow himself to be involved with Jason, and this is the reason why the romance between the two of them is not widely developed, even if it's nice.

In particular I liked Jason, because he was not the usual stereotype, aloof FBI agent with a dark past he will never disclose; Jason is able to share his emotional side, with the right person, making him the ideal companion for someone like Chris, who first of all need comfort.
