Meet the author: I am from Huntington Beach, Ca. I taught various subjects at a Continuation High School in Los Angeles, California for 27 years. I obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in history, Secondary Social Science Credential and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Reading and Secondary Education from California State University, Long Beach. I also enrolled in some creative writing classes at UCLA. I am currently taking classes from Romance Writers of America.

The Right Time is a mellifluous story that transcends the standard gay, contemporary stories that revolve around boy-meeting-boy, boy-falling-in-love-with-boy, boy-and-boy-having-a-misunderstanding-and-breaking-up, and two-boys-declaring-their-love-for-each-other-and-having-a-happily-ever-after, with a bunch of sex thrown into the plot to make it interesting. No, The Right Time was more than just a love story, more than just a friends-to-lovers story, more than just an interracial story. This story was not only about the love and hot (and I do mean hot-how do you make a scene with two men working out but not touching or kissing so unbelievably sexy and "boner-inducing"? Like seriously? All they were doing was TALKING!) sex between Alex and Nate, it was about Nate coming to love and accept himself, it was about Alex realizing and fully embracing the love of his father, it was about heartache, loss, grief, communication, giving back, it was about the next generation, acceptance, equality, race, music, friendship, resolution, closure, and most importantly fútbol! And while many authors would struggle, try, and fail when attempting to include these many different and varied subject matters into one books, Lane Hayes did it so effortlessly and seamlessly that the plot flowed exceptionally well. The scenes were so artfully described as to make the reader feel as if they were trapped in the congestion of L.A. traffic or running on the beach, swimming in the ocean, eating delicious homemade Mexican food, or even entangled in the sheets with a hot Latino lover, hearing his groans and grunts of passion, with his warm breath against their skin. The characters were all so fully rounded out and described, each of them moving and reacting as if they were fully formed 3-D people, other than 2-D characters who ring false, even the secondary characters were so fully established that I found myself fully engaged in them. I think this is all due to Mrs. Hayes's exceptional writing style, it grabs a hold of the reader and plops them down into the story, engages their emotions, and so thoroughly engrosses their attention that they are incapable of releasing the story or its characters until the story is complete. There was no way this story deserved anything less than a 40 from me, and that's not just because I love all of the classical music mentioned in the book or the quote by J.R.R. Tolkien from The Hobbit that was mentioned, but because the book totally earned it.

A slow burn romance that packs a strong emotional punch.

Wonderfully writing fantasy series.  This installment mananged to make my sympathetic to a character I hated before. I can't say I love him, but I managed to enjoy the story.  The overall story arc that is a continuation from the first 4 installments moves along and sets up the rest of the series well

I really liked this story, the plot is well developed, the story  captivating, the words really make you feel the music. One of my best reading.

This book had a great thread to the story and I enjoyed it from page one…Loved it.
