Serendipity is at the same time very romantic but also a little sad. It’s strange since it’s not that level of sadness that makes me think why I read it, and in a way, there is hope, albeit a slight hope, that an happily ever after will await the main character, Jake.

Jake is barely legal, 18 years old and far from home: he temporarily ran away from his family isolated farm to attend the concert of his favourite band from the United Kingdom. It’s not a big band, they are not playing in a stadium, but in a private night club. And Jake is only 18 years old… but he has a fake driving license and plenty of willingness. And then, just like that, in the line behind him in a coffee store, there is Russ London, the man he came to see.

But what Jake and Russ can have is only a night, and probably if Russ would know Jake’s real age, neither that; this is only the meeting of two ships in the night, both of them going separate ways, but for one night they are there and they are good together. Why I say there is a hope for something more? For the Serendipity in the title. Jake and Russ meet now, but maybe they are not ready now for something more than one night, but the serendipity that helped them will probably help them again, if they are fated to be together.

Sweet romantic plot and nice sex scenes, almost tender due to Jake’s inexperience, make this a very good short story.
