With a very short story, less than 10 pages, Bryl R. Tyne introduces the reader to a character, the guardian angel Zagzagel who promises to be the source of many more delightful stories. As rightly for a story about angels and lost hopes, there is a tinge of sadness, but luckily that doesn’t turn into a tragedy. Zag is sent from Big Papa (yes, Him) to save Bret, or maybe he was sent to witness to Bret’s fight for life, and of course he was not to intervene; but the reader knows that, when we are talking of guardian angels, we are also talking about friends who will never let you down, and so Zag cannot avoid but to help and console 19 years old Bret in his belief that he is alone in the world. 19 years old is too young to think there is no hope in life, and Zag knows that.
Even if the story is short, I had the time to be “uncertain” on the outcome: was this an impossible become possible love story? Was Zag saving his love other than his protégé? But this series is also arrived to the 6th instalment, and so, of course, this could be not the final conclusion.
Nice short story with the right dose of romance, sadness, fantasy, and above all hope.
