Carol McKenzie lost her battle against lung cancer on October 27, 2009

I remember her since she was one of the first author I read, I still have her first version of Day of Reckoning from Forbidden Publications, a short story she then republished with Loveyoudivine. Another story I liked is Pure Artistry, in the Men Anthology always at Loveyoudivine.

For me she will always be the author that made me discover Loveyoudivine, when I stopped by that publisher, if I hadn't found her name, I would have never bought anything. Instead, thank to her, I found other authors, like Nix Winter and Ryan Field, but also Jon Michaelsen and Bryn Colvin.

There is not many info on her on the net, this is what I found on the backcover of one of her books: Carol McKenzie was born and raised in Illinois. Through her twenties, thirties and part of her forties she lived in California, Texas, Montana, Washington and Colorado. She then she moved back to her home state of Illinois. She planned to stay there with her husband and Jack Russell terrier.

She enjoyed rendering artwork, sewing, quilt making and playing Civilization IV. On any given day, she dutifully worked at her computer typing up a new erotic romance story. She wrote interracial, contemporary, historical and alternative lifestyle fiction. If she had properly accomplished her goals, all her stories contained hot sex scenes.

What I know is that she left a cherished impression on people who knew her, so much that they are grieving now for her loss.

It was the less I could do. I hate when cancer takes away people who would have so many life still to enjoy. Elisa

Missing Carol

Well written,Elisa. I, too, mourn Carol's passing, both as a fellow uthor at LYD and as a friend. I would never have written eroticaa, let alone m/m, hence Graphic Intentions in the MEN anthology, without her encouragement. She put on the trail of new horizons in my writing and I will forever cherish her memory. I first met Carol at Writing.com, where her support meant much to me and others she took under her wing. I'll miss her a great deal but she leaves a legacy to us all.

Thank so much for this beautiful posting in honor of Carol McKenzie's passing, Elisa. Carol was a very private person because of the genres she wrote in, so there is not much on the web "personally" about her. Those who knew her well, will forever remember her. And those that didn't will always cherish the novels she wrote.

May she be at peace, and forever remembered.

Much love and memories,
Dawné

Yes, it is sad when someone dies, but please don't make the mistake of thinking it is always death from cancer. Most of the time people die of the treatment they get from physicians, not from the cancer. I was diagnosed and operated on for one of the most deadly cancers, ovarian cancer, THIRTEEN years ago, and I attribute my long productive life partly to my excellent surgeon, and partly to my dogged persistence in correcting my diet to a healthier one and in learning how to manage stress in my life. I refused to have their chemotherapy (they had given Cytoxan, a popular chemo drug, to my husband without telling him that it was MUSTARD GAS, and it almost immediately killed him, leaving me to cope with our four children) or their radiation, choosing instead to use herbal supplements and change my lifestyle. I sure am glad, and I have written about my healing process in a new book, a collection of essays on Health & Wellness, Sexuality & Relationships, called The Truth According to Sally Miller. I can send it anywhere in the world. See my website at www.SynergyBookService.com to order. And for cancer prevention, my ideas can't be beat! Now if they will only listen -- the doctors -- and do some rigorous testing instead of pushing toxic chemicals -- warfare really -- onto helpless-feeling patients, we might get somewhere in the war against cancer. We make our own cancer with our greed, our pushiness, our bad diets, our stressful lives, and we need to learn to take responsibility for ourselves.

The Incomparible Carol McKenzie

As the publisher of lyd, I just found out this morning via phone conversation with her husband that Carol has passed away from lung cancer. Carol leaves a huge hole at lyd, even as her star in the Divine Celestial Vault shines bright today.

As Dawn says, she was a private person, but her support for us all is not only memorable, but greatly appreciated. In all things, she was steady - through bad reviews and best-sellers. With a voice and style all her own, she commanded the M/M and Interracial markets for years.

As her husband has charged me to manage her works, Carol McKenzie's legacy lives on. We're planning a Requiem Chat and will keep you posted on the lyd site. I believe it's important for her fans to have the opportunity to remember her fondly, and I will print them out and mail them to her husband.

Elisa - thank you wholeheartedly for your support of loveyoudivine Alterotica AND Carol McKenzie, a beautiful soul and a treasured memory.

Though I didn't know Carol for long, she left a lasting impression on me. I will never forget her kindness, warmth, and helping nature. When I first started as an author at LYD, Carol was always there to answer any and all questions I had, and freely offered me advice/suggestions about the book business. She will be missed, but more importantly, she will be remembered--for her inner beauty, compassion, and trail-blazing talent. I'm thankful she touched down in my life, however briefly, because the impression she left behind will indefinitely linger in my mind.

Peace be with you, Carol.

I'm stunned, beyond words that I can't even think straight. Carol was a mentor to me and many others just starting out in an online writer's critique group and was the driving force to bring MEN - An Anthology to fruition. I will truly miss her and can't stop crying right now...but, her star lives on in her work forsure....

Losing someone you care for is always hard, harder when she was so young. But she left us good stories and to all of you who are commenting, cherished memories. Elisa

I didn't have the pleasure of actually meeting Carol - but as a reviewer and a huge fan of her work, she was always first on the email with her support and her joy at just having the books read...

I will miss her - she had a style all her own...

Thanks Elisa, lovely post...

Thank you for letting me know about Carol's passing, this is a truly sad day for many of us.

We really enjoyed working with Carol on her story Pirate of Purgatory Island which she'd placed with us at Shadowfire Press.

She will be deeply missed.
