Paula Danziger (August 18, 1944 – July 8, 2004) was a U.S. children's author. She lived in New York City.

She was a graduate of Montclair State University, earning a bachelor's and master's there before becoming a substitute teacher. After being injured in an automobile accident, she began writing. Most of her books are considered Young Adult (YA) books, although some of the Amber Brown books were aimed at younger readers.

Danziger suffered a heart attack on June 8, 2004, and died from complications a month later, at the age of 59. At the time of her death, many of her books had been published in 53 countries and in 14 languages. Paula is buried in the Woodstock Artist's Cemetery in Woodstock, NY.

How strange

I never heard of her before, and to my surprise, she graduated from my same university!!!

The alumni magazine is doing an article on 'the writers of Montclair State' and including me, I'm honored to say. I'm sure she will be included. I can't wait to find out who else has authored books who went to my school.

There will probably be all sorts of non-fiction books listed and only a few fiction books. I bet I will be the only romance writer!

Maybe since she died so young? It's very sad that she isn't remeber well from who lives where she lived. Let me know if she will be mentioned.

I loved her books. The Cat Ate My Gym Suit! I shared it with my eldest and now, I need to dig those out and give them to my youngest. Her books were wonderful, and filled with those tiny awkward moments girls know so well when they are 13.

Actually poor Paula is a bit isolated in my LJ, but her Amber Brown's books had a bit of romance, even if with a YA point of view. And then I love her covers :-)
