Sweet, almost peaceful, the love story between party boy Rue and OCD afflicted sci-fi writer Erik is told in both point of view of the main characters. I have the feeling that, this being a co-authored book, the two authors wrote the different point of view, matching then them together in the novel.

Rue has never dreamed to become a father, he is 100% gay hairdresser and family and long-term partner are not part of the picture; but one only mistake is enough to make him a father and now juggling between daily courses at school and nightly work in a gay private club is not simple.

Erik is a nice guy, but way, way into the nerdy side of life; a Star Wars fanatic, junk food addicted, he managed to go through high school and college without interacting much with the world, and now he is enjoying an early retired life in a detached small house with back yard garden. But then reality comes knocking at the door, the small paradise that is Erik’s house is on sale and he has not enough money to buy it. Erik moves next door to Rue, and when Rue realizes his neighbour is an at home worker, asking him to babysit little Alice is the logical next step. Now if I was a mother (and I don’t have motherly instinct so it’s a lot for me to say it), I would probably not leave my newborn baby with a perfect stranger, but maybe this is giving you an idea of how little prepared Rue was to be a father.

Obviously Erik falls for Alice way before falling for her pretty and cute father; actually it’s a fight between who is cuter, if Alice of her father, but in any case, Erik has no chance to come out from the situation unscathed. Considering he is a virgin to EVERYTHING, het or gay sex, putting him side by side with experienced and available Rue is like having straw near a fire.

I really liked not only both main characters, Erik and Rue, but also Dusty; actually I think Dusty is so nice and good that I wanted to read his story as soon as this one was finished, need to check if they have already written it… it’s impossible they have no thought to that, since Dusty is too layered to be only a supporting character.

Oh, let's us know when/if Dusty's story comes out! He had such a vunerability wrapped in a colorful exterior meant to distract you. I loved when Erik stood up for him!
