This is not a romance, better is not a romance we are used to.

Hanithi and Inandre are both akharu (courtesan) and when they meet they are both without a patron. But they are both young beautiful men and it will not pass much time before they will find a suitable patron and a worthy contract. Meanwhile, Inandre is ready to suggest that they enjoy themself in lazy afternoon of sex and chatting.

But then Hanithi finds his suitable suitor and moves to another town. He is very surprised to receive after sometime a visit from Inandre: he is not more the reckless guy he knew before and he needs a friend. And maybe also a lover that can help him to regain his self-estime.

Why this is not a romance? well cause the main story is not a love story which will end in an happily ever after. The main story is about two friends, also lovers, yes, but first of all friends, who help each other without changing what they are in their life: two courtesans in searching of a good contract to guarantee a good and deserved retirement... So it's not a romance, cause it's also too true, this short stories (less than 40 pages) looks at the world directly and not through pink glasses (even if it is setting in a fantasy world).
