Tough Love Baby by Shiuko Kano

Yoshino is a 26 yd old waiter. He is back again in city after three years. He left when he realized he had feeling not for his girlfriend, but for her little brother Sachi. Now Sachi is 19 yd old and fate wants that Yoshino goes to live near him. When he sees again the boy, he almost doesn't recognize him: Sachi is a big guy and he is also in a street gang. But after some days of iceness between them, Yoshino and Sachi finally admit their feeling.

Tamotsu is Sachi's best friend. He remembers how Sachi has suffered when Yoshino left years before and he doesn't want that Sachi would be wonded again. But he can't do nothing, Yoshino will be always first in Sachi's heart. And then Tamotsu has met a young guy, Sora, 16 yd old and so gentle and shy. After some years of innocent relationship, they become lovers and Sora goes to live with him when he starts college. But Sora is not more the boy he met, and growing up he becomes a man, with all the needs of a man. Tamotsu will be able to acept this new side of Sora?

Without doubt the second couple, Tamotsu and Sora steal the scene to Yoshino and Sachi. To be sincere, I really don't understand well Yoshino and Sachi's relationship, and felt interest only when Tamotsu was around. Instead the second story is more involving and interesting, and also complete.

The graphic is very sexy, even if both the story are almost "chaste" (with only some sex hints from the second couple). Sex is more told than drawn. But the "tough boy" looks of Sachi and Tamotsu are very "cool".

Yakuza In Love 1 by by Shiuko Kano

Aoi is only a lucky boy with some secrets in his past. He has joined a Yakuza family and for a twist of the fate he saved the boss' life. But other members in the family know the truth and want to uncover it.

The boss, for his own reason, choose to assign Aoi as bodyguard to Sakiya, an old member of the family, just out of prison. Sakiya is of the old way, he was a man of the old boss and he is not at all agreed with the "new" business of the boss' son. Aoi falls for Sakiya at first glance.

Sakiya takes at heart Aoi's fate, cause he has the same name of his former lover, a woman killed for her bond with Sakiya. Meanwhile, another man of Sakiya, takes in another young guy, who shares an unrequieted love for a man he can't have, like Aoi, and a dangeruous relationship with a man of the boss. 

The story is not bad, but a little difficult to follow: many events and too less close points. Maybe cause it's a first book of three, and some events will end in the following books. And then I can't "feel" the bond between Aoi and Sakiya, it's like if I'm waiting for the real Aoi's Mr Right to appear in the story...

But as always the graphic is very "pure" and beautiful. The characters are more "japanese" than in other yaoi manga, and maybe reading the three volume one after the other will help to understand better the story.

I will introduce myself: my name is Laura Carboni, but everyone calls me "Zel." I started my career as a designer when I was still a toddler: I made my first colored drawing when I was two years old and my mother still keeps it! :-)

Some people ask me how I can draw in two completely different styles, as may be my personal and what I should use for "Winx Club"... and the beautiful thing is that I don't know for sure even I! :-) It's like if I had two spacious closets, positioned precisely in my head, and that I open and close depending on what I want to take out, namely, what I should draw. It is not easy, it is not gratifying, but it is necessary because professionalism means sacrifice and flexibility."
