Bette Midler (born December 1, 1945), also known by her informal stage name, The Divine Miss M, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, comedian, film producer and entrepreneur. In a career spanning almost half a century, Midler has been nominated for two Academy Awards, and won three Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, three Emmy Awards, and a special Tony Award. She has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and along with that has also received 13 Gold, 8 Platinum and 4 Multiplatinum albums by RIAA. She began singing in the Continental Baths, a gay bathhouse in the city, in the summer of 1970. During this time, she became close to her piano accompanist, Barry Manilow, who produced her first album in 1972, The Divine Miss M. It was during her time at the Continental Baths that she built up a core following. In the late 1990s, during the release of her album Bathhouse Betty, Midler commented on her time performing there, "Despite the way things turned out [with the AIDS crisis], I'm still proud of those days. I feel like I was at the forefront of the gay liberation movement, and I hope I did my part to help it move forward. So, I kind of wear the label of 'Bathhouse Betty' with pride".
Brenda Sue Fulton and Penelope Dara Gnesin were married on December 1, 2012, at the Cadet Chapel at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. The Rev. Vanessa R. Southern, a Unitarian Universalist minister, performed the ceremony, with Col. J. Wesley Smith, an Episcopal army chaplain at West Point, taking part. 
They were a couple by the end of the year. Four years later, they held a commitment ceremony with no legal status. Then, they registered for a domestic partnership when they became legal in New Jersey in 2004. Then, when New Jersey passed civil unions, they held another ceremony.
On December 2012 for the first time in the publication’s history, JET magazine featured a gay male couple in their famous “Love” section. Grooms Dr. Ravi Perry and Paris Prince celebrated their union in the magazine’s 2012 December issue.
Alvin Ailey (January 5, 1931 - December 1, 1989) was an African-American choreographer and activist who founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City. Ailey is credited with popularizing modern dance and revolutionizing African-American participation in 20th century concert dance. His company gained the nickname "Cultural Ambassador to the World" because of its extensive international touring. Ailey's choreographic masterpiece Revelations is believed to be the best known and most often seen modern dance performance. In 1977, Ailey was awarded the Spingarn Medal from the NAACP. November 2013 marks the 7th anniversary since I opened my first journal (and yes, I have an itch, but I will scratch it!), on LJ, and the 5th anniversary of the Rainbow Awards. So, of course I decided for a big bash party. 190 authors, all of them in the 2013 Rainbow Awards, have donated or an ebook, or a print book, and I will use them for a Treasure Hunt. Every day, for all November, I will post 6 excerpts (a random page of the book). No reference to title, or author, or publisher. You have to match it with the book ;-) comment on the blog (do not leave anonymous comments, if you post as anonymous, leave a contact email (comments are screened)), you can comment 1 time for more matchings (you can even try for all 6 books if you like, so 6 chances to win every day). Until the end I will not say which matching is right, so you will have ALL month to try. No limit on how many books you can win, the more you try the better chance you have to win. This was a rather complex, and well researched book primarily for two reasons: the setting into the trading funds world and the non-exclusive relationship. Now, it’s not the first time I read about non-monogamous couples, but usually it’s something they are doing together, and mostly involving someone else in their relationship on a pretty much steady basis. Here instead Jon is the accepting, if not willing, partner, who is always welcoming back his wandering boyfriend, Ricky. The most appalling thing is that, Ricky is not even hiding it, Jon knows that he has weekends in, when Ricky is with him, and weekends off, when Ricky does, more or less, everyone else. Hundreds and hundreds of men, without names and sometime even without a face. I really, really wanted to like Ricky, and to find some justification to his behavior, but actually, who will arrive to understand himself and his reasons, will be Jon and not Ricky, Ricky more or less will play the role of the little kid who realized how much he liked that toy when it was broken and too late to save it.
