No Regret (2006)

No Regret was a little bit difficult to see because, while it's a romance, it's dark and sad (even if it has an HEA of some sort). Jae Min more than love Su Min, is obsessed by him. He wants to own Su Min, and his first approach is so clumsy that Su Min actually rejects him. Even after Su Min has become a prostitute (they say host, but indeed Su Min is selling also sexual favors), he still try to make Jae Min go away. And when, after more drama and sadness, they start a sort of relationship, Jae Min does something that arises Su Min's repressed hanger. The final scene is sort of a reconcilation, but I'm not sure these two are destined to be happy together. Heat Level: 6/6.

The Wedding Banquet (1993)

 This is an old goodie, The Wedding Banquet. It's different from other BL movies since it's set in New York. It's the story of Wai Tung Gao, who is happily living with his male partner, but his parents want him to marry and have children, so he decides to "order" a chinese bride by mail... The troubles start when Wai Tung Gao's parents decide to come to New York for The Wedding Banquet. I loved, loved this movie, I went to the theater to see it, and I loved basically everything. Wai Tung Gao's father is wonderful, wait for his final scene and cry like me. Director Ang Lee went on to Brokeback Mountain's later fame, but The Wedding Banquet, if we are talking of gay movie, with its positive message, is way better. HEA. Heat Level: 2/6.

7 Days Before Valentine (2023)

 7 Days Before Valentine was, supposedly, the story of Sun and Rain, but as I soon realized, this love story was not happening. Sun is over conceited, ignorant and totally wrong for Rain. I sincerely didn't like his character, and so, when he has indeed his love story with Kyu, I was sort of thinking he didn't deserve it. All right, in the end he makes amend, and so, you can say this is a personal growth with an happy ending, but still, the feeling he was not worthy of it still remains. Interesting plot, not really a romance, but HEA. You can see it on WeTV. Heat Level: 3/6.

Private Teacher! by Yuu Moegi

Not only is the schoolwork so confusing that Rintarou needs a private tutor, but the maelstrom of emotions he feels when spending time with Kaede-san is weirdly unsettling. But when Kaede-san decides to penalize Rintarou's unsatisfactory progress with some unusual punishment, Rintarou figures out that what he's feeling is love. But what abut Kaede? Does he love Rintarou or is he just a perverted sadist?
