This is a very sweet but very sad story.

David and Robin are long time lovers and they are pretty good together. Recently Robin had an heart attack and a subsequent heart surgery and he is no more the same. He is limited in his actions and in his day-to-day life, but David loves him so much, he is doing all the possible to keep him health and good. He looks after him, on what he eats and does.

They are spending a weekend in their lake cottage, and decide to play the role of pirate Captain and his cabin boy. Even if Robin is the elder and healthier, he is the one who plays the role of the cabin boy: always ready to "serve" his captain, always happy to bring him joy.

David knows that every day he snatches to the fate is a day more he is lucky to have. Every morning he wakes up, he thanks to have another day, and every night he sleeps off, he prays for a day more.

You could really feel the love between these two men, and you really feel David's pain and joy, and in the end you know you have to be happy for the day like David, since this is probably a couple that will not have the chance to age together.

Sweetie, it's "heart attack". I don't know why, but I guess the word "attack" came about because a person is beset by something bad. We use "attack" to describe other bad things, too. Something bad that sneaks up on a person out of nowhere and causes pain and harm. Just another idiom in English that makes very little sense. :)

Thank you. Actually in Italian is very similar, "attacco di cuore", I don't know why "struck" came in mind. Elisa

It made me think, however. The idea of heartstruck...sounds very romantic. Starstruck means "overwhelmed by something magnificent".
Another struck. Awestruck, another "struck" word.

You may be on to something here. I love your Italian English. I don't have any English Italian. In your honor, because you've made me think this morning, we are going to have spaghetti for dinner tonight!
Hugs,
Irene

I'm surprised at Angelia Sparrow writes this kind of story(no, it's just because of my ignorance).

Every morning he wakes up, he thanks to have another day, and every night he sleeps off, he prays for a day more.

Either has serious health problem or not, it's a fact we aren't aware of, believing that we can live at least 60 or so.
A.Sparrow is really interesting person to me, I like her being truck driver :)

About "heartattack"...
Since I'm not English speaking, "heartattack" is more familiar to me. I may confuse "heartstrike" with "heartbeat" if I don't read context carefully.

Yes also I'm surprise. Usually she is a bit more "kinky" :-) (in a good way). This one is a pretty nostalgic story, but very sweet.

Heartstruck is like "colpo al cuore" I think, something romantic... even my English is romance!

I'm so pleased this one is getting a good reception. It IS a departure for me.

Naomi and I are broadening our scope and writing a lot of different things.

I truly appreciate your challenge. Somehow I knew that you can write the depth or density of human heart, joy and pain and so on. I wish you great success :)

Two days ago my landlady's daughter who was only 30 years old died of heartstrike/heartattack. Then, I remembered your story again.

Good. I'm happy to have always new materials to read. But I also remember with pleasure Collared Hearts and For the love of Etarin. Elisa

The sequel for Collared Hearts comes out in July.
It's called Frosted Hearts and is essentially a Christmas story.
