Bloodraven by P.L. Nunn

This is a graphic novel. I read the traditional novel on P.L. Nunn's Website and found it really interesting. Yhalen is a young man with special power: he can heal the people and heals himself using the power of nature.

But a brutal race, the Ogres, came down from the mountain and take with them destruction and death. Yhalen is taken in captivity and brutalized and raped. Thanks to his healing power he survives and he is giving as a gift to an halfling, Bloodraven. Even if more similar to a man than an ogre, Bloodraven has still an impressive body. In the traditional novel the character of Bloodraven is more complex, more complete. You can better understand that he has some trait of gentleness in him. He doesn't want to hurt Yhalen, but in the first he considers him not more than a pet. He satisfies his desires with the young man, no matter if Yhalen is willing: but he is aware of the phisycal weakness of the man, and he has care not to kill him.

Yhalen is confuse, he can't understand how he can feel phisycal pleasure during sex with Bloodraven. But the pleasure is there and in the end, Yhalen arrives to desire the pain/pleasure given by Bloodraven. Yhalen is not a strong character, he flows the event, he is a gentle soul trapped in a crazy world.

The graphic novel ends at the very beginning of the story, a story you can read for entire on the site.

This looked so good, I went to the site and started the story. Once trapped, I found myself on Lulu buying the graphic novel and her novel Dynasty of Ghosts. Thanks Elisa for helping me find a new author! Too bad her books aren't on Amazon or I'd add them to my listmania.

The Bloodraven comic novel only covers 2 chapter of Bloodraven novel. I can't imagine that PL Nunn will draw all the book, but I read she wants to, at least, draw another graphic novel about Bloodraven

Someone introduced me to this novel a few days ago and I have been glued to it ever since. I had to officially make it mine by purchasing a copy from Lulu, along with Wizard and Dynasty of Ghosts. I've seen some good reviews of Wizard, but practically nothing about Dynasty of Ghosts, but I'm about to take a leap of faith on it since Bloodraven has more than kept my interests thus far.

I have all P.L. Nunn'w work, both graphic novel than novel. Bloodraven is the best according to me. Wizard is really strong, be prepared, it's not an easy story. Dynasty of Ghost is good, but very long and very high on the fantasy side, not much sex and a lot of pages. But if you like fantasy, it's very good. Elisa

I haven't been able to find the graphic novel for Bloodraven, I'll keep searching though.
I did hear that Wizard was graphic, which has made it become like "forbidden fruit" to me...so now I just have to see why this is so. Thank you for the warning about it and Dynasty of Ghost. I do have a hard time with lengthy fantasy novels so I guess I'll have to be reading it in small sections :)

The graphic in Wizard is not referred to the sex, but more to the violence. It's very explicit, much more than in Bloodraven. If you haven't read Bloodraven first it could be overwhelming. I reccommend to you to continue to search for Bloodraven, even if Wizard let you perplexed. And of Bloodraven I have both graphic novel and novel and they are both good. Elisa
