reviews_and_ramblings"For some time we have been telling our story and sketching life through our paintings so it was a major challenge for us to create this artists’ statement.
We are both in love with people; from the most complex to the simplest of us. We have been anywhere history, the sea and people exist. We have traveled to many cities, countries and continents to touch the poetry of the male nude, alive with its different forms and colors, living in harmony with its surroundings. On this voyage many beautiful faces have spilled onto our canvases and found life again in our art.
Every hotel we have stayed in, every window we have looked through, every beautiful person we have met or who has caught our eye, to every stone that we have stepped on, was created to be celebrated in our art.
Colors are affected by different climates, lighting and mood as it travels to reach the surface of our paintings. We have witnessed sadness, joy, youth and even embarrassment on the faces of our models. We have fallen in love again and again with these unexpected differences and the uniqueness of human body, which we think, in itself, is the most aesthetic three-dimensional art form on earth
After living in the US for many years, we’ve been resting near the Aegean Sea which we had been longing to do for a long time and has inspired us for so long. We hope to see you somewhere, sometime, on this journey, whose destination we still don’t know." --Serhan & Murat
