I made an error: I bought this book thinking it was a graphic novel (the cover is pretty cute) and instead it's a yaoi novel. It's my first time I read a true japanese yaoi novel and my feelings are puzzled.

Overall I have to say that I like it, but it's clearly a novel written by a woman for women. Why I say this? Cause, after reading hundreds and hundreds of gay romance, I know certaing things about gay love (maybe more than I want) and there are some sex scene in this book that are impossible, "realistic" impossible. But still it's almost an erotic novel, with a lot of sex, and I think that it reaches its goal, to entertain you for some enjoyable hours.

Kanae is a beautiful guy, almost too pretty that he can be mistaken for a girl. He is an out of town college student, and so, without long time friends, and being helplessly shy, he has made a reputation of cold beauty. Rumors say he is bisexual and that he is an host. Instead Kanae is virgin and he has chosen to ignore all the rumors without denying them nor confirming. But one day Yuuichi, the most notorious womanizer of the university, decides to be his knight in shining armor and to rescue him from all the people who mock him. And Kanae falls in love at first sight for this handsome guy with an incorrigible behaviour.

They are friends but Kanae yearns for more and what he has the chance, he proposes to Yuuichi: better some days as his lover than a life as his friend, in this way he will have the memories to warm him. He knows that Yuuichi's interest is easily lost after some days he makes sex with a girl, and he is surprise to realize that their relationship grews steady more the days pass. But Kanae is not sure of Yuuichi's love, and he counts the days to their break.

As I said, there is lot of sex in this novel: the two guys can't be in the same scene without making sex and they are the only two characters of the novel, so, you can understand how much sex there is. But I find it exciting and not boring, so, if you start reading this novel knowing what you will find and not searching to noblize it to something more, it's a pretty good read.

ROTFLMAO! I don't think I've ever seen a better description of the first few weeks of a passionate relationship!

And it's not only fun, it's also true. But you are right, it's the start of a passionate relationship, so it's beautiful and not boring.

Speaking strictly as a writer who didn't want to offend or provide amusement at my own expense for my gay friends, I did some research to try to be more authentic. (I'm still burning up and Abby at the local porn store thinks I'm a ho.) but I totally get what you mean about the sex being unrealistic. I think I'll get this one to see first hand... I can tell when they're written by women sometimes just because of body part logistics or what the characters say to each other. Not that I'm not guilty of that. I think the target market is women too... so it wouldn't do to totally forget that.

I don't want to give details, they are pretty embarassing, but there is at list one thing that it's physilogically impossible. Another thing, I can say, is that the guys make love seven time in a row... without interruption! And one of them had seven climaxes!!! Well, maybe it's not impossible, but, well, I will sign the guy for a Record Guinness!

Basically a graphic novel is a comic, with picture but without text(a part the phrase in the baloon of the comic). A yaoi novel is a novel, all text but maybe with one or two picture here and there like illustration and usually written by japanese author. A manga is a japanese comic. A yaoi manga (or only yaoi) is a japanese manga with a M/M story in it (represented by the seme (top) and the uke (bottom)).
