Luke is a small town texan guy. In the little ranch he shares with a father who seems to hate him, his only joy and friend is Sully, the boy next door, who is so far away from him, despite living near him: richer, handsome and straight. When he is 18 years old Luke moves away not bearing the idea to see the hate in the eyes of his friend if he knows about the feeling Luke proves for him. With only a guitar on his shoulder, he arrives to Las Vegas, and in this glittering city he becomes a famous country singer and tries to live his life as a gay in the closet: he loses himself in nameless sex both with women and men, not wanting to know their name; the women are only a shield to hid his homosexuality to his public, the men are only substitutes of Sully, for him, in the exstasy, they all have the name and the face of Sully.
With years, he manages to go on only with pills and alcohol since one night he arrives to a point of no return: he has to return to his small town in Texas and says the truth to Sully. What his friend will do he doesn't know, but he knows that he can no more hiding.
Luke is a man who needs to be told what to do and to be directed on the right way. He is a man who is not complete without a man on his side and, even if he has shared his bed with a lot of people, he is "faithful" to only one, his first love.
I like the story, but it's too short: less than 70 pages, half of them spent by Luke to take the decision to go and find Sully. In this way more than a story of two people, is the story of the road to hell and back of Luke.
