Bruce Raymond Voeller (May 12, 1934 – February 13, 1994) was a biologist and researcher, primarily in the study of AIDS. Before the 1980s, AIDS was known by various names, including GRIDD (Gay Related Immune Defense Disorder). Since this term was inaccurate, Voeller coined the term acquired immune deficiency syndrome. His partner was Richard Lucik, who was also his associate at Mariposa. Voeller died in 1994 of an AIDS related illness in California, at the age of 59.

Joe Phillips is an artist, known for his mainstream comic book art and for his work depicting his views of gay life. In 2013, Phillips animated and directed the official music video for UK Rock singer/songwriter Matt Fishel's single "When Boy Meets Boy". Described by Out Magazine as a "cute (and sexy)" love story "with a superhero twist", it shows an animated version of Fishel meeting a mysterious skater boy in a bar and concludes with a superhero fight and rescue sequence.

Lori Shannon (born Don Seymour McLean) was a female impersonator who was associated with the drag revues at Finocchio's nightclub in San Francisco. He wrote an entertainment column for the Bay Area Reporter. The way he appeared on the stage was notable for his size at a height of 6'6" with a raspy basso voice, and sarcastic humor. To the American television audience, Shannon was best known for portraying female impersonator Beverly LaSalle in three episodes of the CBS sitcom All in the Family.

Mel Keegan is known for novels across a wide range of subjects, from the historical to the future action-adventure ... but certainly MK is best known for the NARC series, featuring iconic characters Jarrat and Stone. Mel lives in South Australia. In Fortunes Of War, 1588, a young mercenary and the son of an English earl meet by a quirk of fate. Dermot Channon is a soldier, while Robin Armagh has been sheltered on his father's estate. Love blossoms fast while war looms on the horizon.

Upon receiving a small printing press as a gift from his father, Monroe Wheeler began producing chap books of poetry under the imprint, Manikin Press. One of his first works was The Bitterns, a collection of poems by Glenway Wescott, whom he had met in Chicago in 1919 and who would become Wheeler's long-time companion. Monroe Wheeler died in Manhattan on August 14, 1988 at the age of 89, 18 months after the death of Glenway Wescott. They were together for 68 years.
Glenway Wescott was a major American novelist during the 1920-1940 period and a figure in the American expatriate literary community in Paris during the 1920s. His relationship with longtime companion Monroe Wheeler lasted from 1919 until Wescott's death in 1987. In 1926 Wheeler was introduced to George Platt Lynes, an aspiring writer and publisher. Lynes fell in love with Wheeler, and eventually, he became a third partner in the existing relationship. Lynes died in New York City in 1955.

Nick Verreos is a fashion designer, fashion commentator and former Project Runway contestant. He began his career in LA working for a variety of companies, before forming his own design firm, NIKOLAKI, with partner David Paul in 2001. He and David live in the Los Angeles with their dog Benny. NIKOLAKI gowns designed by Verreos and Paul have been worn by a number of notable celebrities, including Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin, who wore a NIKOLAKI gown to the 2008 Academy Awards.

Vernon Lee's relationship with her companion Annie Meyers ended in 1881. From 1881 to 1887, her traveling companion was Mary Robinson, whom she met at a drawing-room party. Mary's eventual marriage to James Darmsteter, ended Lee's passionate attachment. Lee was comforted by her new friend Clementina Anstruther-Thomson, who was to have a profound effect on her work. Lee described her friendship with Kit Thomson as a "new love and new life." This friendship lasted from 1887 to 1897.
