Starting from March up until September I will be part of the 2014 GRL Blog Tour as featured blogger. I will host authors attending the GayRomLit Retreat in Chicago (October 16-19, 2014: gayromlit.com/content/2014-grl-featured-blogger-program). To my guests, I asked to brainstorm around the common theme "inspiration". Today author is Jet Mykles:

I’d like to thank Elisa for lending me her blog for the day. Thank you.

I’d also like to give one of Elisa’s readers here a $10 Loose Id gift certificate. Just leave a comment on this post between September 7 and September 15 and I’ll choose one of you at random. Please make sure you’re either subscribed to the post or your email is accessible so I can get in touch with you. Good luck!

Now, on “inspiration”...

They were -- are -- Heaven Sent.

First, there was Johnnie Heaven. Tall and gorgeous with a voice like warm velvet. He walked into my dreams with those hypnotizing green eyes and overabundance of hair and I’ve been in love ever since.

Then there was Lucas Sloane. Also tall, also gorgeous, with a sultry, cocky attitude that has woven his way into my heart and never let me go. The fact that he bears a strong resemblance to my #1 teen idol certainly helped a lot.

If you think that Tyler and Reese are among my most vivid POV characters, that’s because of who they fell in love with. Because I did a fair amount of falling in love myself. Who wouldn’t when picturing themselves trapped beneath Johnnie and all that hair, or being romanced by Luc by a moonlit pond? I get the warm tinglies just thinking about it, years after having written the words.

Brent and Darien may have suffered just a tad since I was already twice in love, but I don’t think I’ve short changed them much, if at all. I’ll admit that I had to think them up instead of them springing to mind. I was tickled to discover that Brent wore dark sunglasses in an attempt to hide from the world and I was delighted to find that Darien had a whirlwind mind that went through fifty thoughts in less than a minute.

These were my boys. They sprang to life and became their own inspiration to me. I mean they live. I’ve had conversations with them and seen far more of their lives than I can possibly write out. Of all my characters, the boys of Heaven Sent -- and I do not leave out Hell, by the way -- are the most alive and persistent for me. They have, in fact, inspired numerous others of my characters.

I can’t pin down the exact things that inspired them. Certainly, reading yaoi was a large part of it and my own teenage daydreams supplied much of the rest. But, really, they’re a collection of a lot of what I find wonderful.

Is it weird to find inspiration in your own characters? Probably, but I can’t really help it. They’re with me now, living in my head, and I don’t forsee a time when they won’t be.

Indigo Knights 4: Noble will be released September 14, 2014 from Loose Id.

BLURB: Donny “Foxy” Foxley is hot. Noble knows it. All those screaming teen girls know it. And so does the production company with their millions staked on the teen idol's dreamy good looks.

So when the supposedly straight moviestar comes onto him, Noble is floored. Never one to resist the allure of a pretty young man, Noble can't resist and doesn't even try. Why should he? Even if it has to be a secret, he’d be crazy to pass up a night of sexytimes with the one man everyone wants.

But one night turns into two, then blossoms into a friendship with the potential for so much more. If that's what Noble is after, which he's not. But Foxy gets under Noble’s skin until he cares way too much. Because there can never be anything but sex between them. To the world, Foxy is straight and Noble is anything but.

Indigo Knights 3: Lance was released on June 3, 2014 from Loose Id
Pairing: m/m
Lance and Gordon have had a hard time. This book shows both the past and present of their rocky relationship.
Available in ebook from Loose Id
Available in ebook from ARe
Available for Kindle on Amazon
Available for NOOK from Barnes & Noble

BLURB: Years ago Lance and Gordon fell in love when the bass player and band manager were part of The Might. The band was led by a rich, self important genius and everything was just great as long as no one rocked the boat. But Gordon chafed in the restrictive atmosphere and Lance was too laid back to test any boundaries. Gordon pushed for more; Lance fought any change. The final straw came when Lance acted out by sleeping with someone else. That was it. Gordon broke it off and was gone.

Now, Gordon’s invited Lance to join the Indigo Knights, a new band he’s managing. He’s made it clear that this is business only and that they’re not going to rekindle the flames of their past. But Lance has been so hung up on Gordon that he’s been celibate all this time. He wants no one else. He regrets how things ended, but he’s never had the chance to try to make amends.

This is his only chance. Can Lance convince Gordon to trust him again?
