I loved both the MCs and the realistic situation they found themselves in as they followed the Appalachian trial together. I was immersed in their experience, and all the details both of the hike and of Kevin's situation felt realistic. My only issue with this book was the nasty ex-lover trope which I felt detracted from the rest of this lovely book.
In the beginning, the plot moved along in a gentle, unhurried pace, perfectly in keeping with the subject matter of a hike through the mountains. Then followed an action twist, the plot took up space only to settle down towar the ending with a completely satisfying conclusion. My only niggle was with the somewhat over-the-top ex-boyfriend trope, but this was really minor. Beautiful pictures, transporting me right there. The writing engaged all senses, including taste and smell.
I bought this book several months ago on a whim. I thought the title was cute. But this book is so much more than that. The author takes the reader on a journey, quite literally. By the time I was done reading this I felt as if I had just had a wonderful vacation. Also, the characters are unique and likeable. They feel like family when I was finished reading this.
I loved this story and was caught up in it almost immediately I started reading. Great tension at the end, and a writing style that was easy to read. A new author to me, but one I will have to read more of.
