I particularly enjoyed the mastery displayed in bringing life to pagan rituals, incorporating them in a nuanced way to make them believable. This was the complete package for me - fresh plot, accessible language, well conceived characters, over arcing themes of faith, love, sacrifice. Well done.
2) An interesting combination of modern-day London and ancient Gods of the Northern Path, “Lars” explores the world of pagan religion and the real-life ramifications of what happens when a God chooses bestow his attention upon a real believer. The author brings London, as well as other-worldly realms, to life with ample sensory detail and socio-political commentary on the implication of being gay in certain Pagan groups. A thoroughly entertaining read.
