1) The writing style is very easy to read, and flows well.  The world building is complex but doesn't bog down the story, and I could follow along without any trouble although this isn't the first book in the series. The characters are interesting, and the perspective of the POV character works well as his self-righteous attitude colours his view of others, and the different society in which he finds himself.
