1) I adored this book from beginning to end. The writing and the characters kept me happily entertained.
2) Tall, Dark, and Deported drew me in from the first page where the author skillfully set up the conflict that allowed the main character to completely change his life at the end to follow his heart. In many books, that shift feels unreal, but, even though it isn't obvious at the beginning (more skill), you realize it made sense all along. The two romantic leads sizzle together, and the witty repartee, funny internal dialogues, and amusing situations filled the pages, and made reading effortless and compelling. There was enough sex to be hot, without it being so overblown, graphic, and boring that I wanted to skip pages. The 9 in character development came from the all-to-common writing of the "good guys" as all good, and the "bad guys" as all bad. It would have been nice to make the former love interest into less of a villain and more of a complex character, for example. Overall, extremely enjoyable, and I will look for more by Bru Baker.
