Noël Sullivan (December 25, 1890 – September 15, 1956)

Noël Sullivan (1890-1956) lived at 2323 Hyde Street, San Francisco, CA 94109. He was friend and patron of Ramon Novarro (1899-1968). Like Noël Sullivan, Novarro was both Roman Catholic and homosexual. Their friendship is recorded in letters written over a span of nearly 30 years. Eulah C. Pharr (1897-1989), African American domestic, was born on June 7, 1897. She worked as a housekeeper for Noel Sullivan and in that role became acquainted with many famous figures in the 1930s. Most of the noteworthy people whom she befriended were known for their work in the dramatic arts, music, and literature, as Sullivan was an influential patron of the fine arts. Pharr maintained a close friendship with Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes until his death in 1967. She died on November 18, 1989 in Los Angeles, California at age 92.
