This morning we visited Brooklyn... I don't know, probably I didn't see the part I was expecting to see, but sincerely it didn't say me too much. After lunch we went to see Harlem and then end the day in Times Square. I called this part of the day "searching" the old New York in Times Square, behind all the glitters and the advertisement. I think Mick will like some of these pictures. I ended the afternoon with a coffee and a chat with Jesse Archer (http://jesseonthebrink.blogspot.com/), he is nice as it seems on video and reading his blog.

Brooklyn seems like a regular city compared to Manhattan. I do love my trips to Brooklyn, as it's a respite from the crowds on Manhattan Island.

Do you know where you found the building in the picture above the Hard Rock picture or what building it is?

Great pictures, Elisa. They make me homesick for the city I adore.

That's the old Paramount Theatre on Bway between 43rd & 44th-- It's got a ton of history. I think it was built in the 20's... I know most of the 40's Big Bands and, later, the Rat Pack all performed there. Now it's an office building with a HRC in it (which replaced the ridiculous WWF-themed restaurant that came before it. Sigh.)

Yes, you are right and you gave more precise info than me LOL. Also you like to find these pieces of history hidden behind the modern building? Elisa

Thank you for commenting, but it's the building in the picture above the Hard Rock/Paramount Theatre. I've been there a number of times for supper, but the glass building in the picture above is not familiar to me.

Do you know that building?

That is the old Paramount Studios and it's exactly in Times Square.

Yes, probably I didn't see the best part of Brooklyn.

Sorry, I meant the building in the picture above the Hard Rock/old Paramount Theatre - the glass building with different coloured glass windows. I haven't seen that one in my travels.

That one is in Brooklyn, exactly near the entrance of the Manhattan Bridge. I think it's new, it has still some building structure around. Elisa

Ah! I have never been around the Manhattan Bridge. I must do that during my next trip.

Thanks, Elisa!

Lovely photos of a facade standing and covering up the beauty that lies hidden underneath. You need a shrink psychiatrist to get in deep and understand what's hidden but the shrink will come out as shattered and deluded as you are. The classic way of change in New York is to destroy it, tear down the beauty and put up something bland, disgusting, ugly. As an alive city, as it once was, New York is near its end. At least we've seen it for a brief moment...

Oh no Mick, be positive. The beauty is still there and the facade can be removed. Maybe is not realistic thinking so, but I prefer so. I know Mick, I'm an hopelessly romantic. Elisa

A New Jersey Thank you

Thank you Elisa for those wonderful pictures of New York today! I have not been there since 9/11 for various reasons, and it was good to see pictures to inspire me to go back while I'm still around . . . If you need to get out of the city world and have a little country, I'm only 60 miles due West, in a wonderful oasis of preserved wetlands and animal preserve. I'm around all weekend!

Thank you for the offer but you didn't sign the comment so I don't know who you are LOL. Anyway, this is my last day in New York, I will leave tomorrow and I don't know when I will be back. I hope soon, but the time before was in 2000, so probably it will be at least another 5/6 years ;-) Elisa

Sorry Elisa! Didn't see a place to put my name. That and this are from Sally Miller, Synergy Press and Synergy Book Service, publisher of all those slightly depressing yet hopeful books of Mykola Dementiuk.
