As expected I didn't have much time to visit around, during the week I stay at work till 9 p.m. and when we are back at the hotel we need to do a recap of the day. So more or less my time is all spent inside an office or at the bar of the hotel. And the hotel is outside the center of Moscow so, even if we would like to take a walk, we are pretty much stuck inside it. Plus I have a bad flu and so I'm not really in the mood to go out. But this morning I forced myself to at least go to see a near park, a former hunting reserve for the Zars with a small artificial island in the middle and a cathedral in the centre. It was a nice place, with maybe a bit the feeling of an abandoned place, but still, it was worth the visit. After that I went to a near craft market: I suppose people made me pay much for the little gifts I bought, but well, it was all the same a good experience and the market was a crazy place. Pity the time is not good and so in the end, I decided to come back to the hotel.

The second picture is the view from my hotel room, the morning I woke up with the snow... and yes, that is morning light ;-)

Beautiful pictures! The steeple-domed churches always amaze me. Please come off your cold, feel better. Ask the Russians for some honey, that will make you feel better, I'm sure of it...

Yes Mick, I'm drinking a lot of hot milk with honey, my colleagues always joke with me since while they drink beer I drink milk like a little baby. Elisa

I seem to have missed the post with the trip dates, sorry. Ok, tell me, do you need anything? Pity you've caught a flu but then again, I can bring you some medicine..? Anf the weather is aawful! People are so reluctant to go out because it's getting dark much earlier and it's dirty. :( All in all, you can ask for help anytime, my weekend is totally free.

Thank you. Lucky me I have an "anteka" inside the hotel, so for the medicine I'm fine. And yes, this time doesn't push me to go out much. Tomorrow I will try to visit the Arbat district in the morning if the time is not bad and if I feel like to do it. For the rest of the time I'm so busy that I can't have time to do nothing less other than sleep. I pretty much eat inside the hotel, both since it's easier and also since I like the place, it's a quite small cafe. Elisa

Apteka, huh? Heh. Good for you. :) I hope the names of medicine don't differ much from those you're accustomed to. Rest well, read. The weather is especially nasty this weekend so if you go to Arbat dress well! Personally I recommend a scarf. Oh, it'd look better if it snowed, srsly. -_- Oh, by the way, I was just wondering (because I didn't recognize the place from the photo) where are you staying? Perhaps you know the street name? I'm just being curious. ;)

I'm stayig at Izmaylovo Park, the Delta-Gamma hotel of the complex (the one just outside the entrance of the Craft Market). This weekend I'm really out, I went out this morning for a walk, but I'm already in the hotel. Want to meet next weekend (Saturday or Sunday) for a coffee? I can to the city centre with the metro, or you can come here: the cafe inside the hotel is good and maybe you can help me do some shopping at the craft market, I have the idea that they are making me pay more than usual ;-) Elisa

Haha, you're staying in the other end of the city, but good thing we have the same metro line so I won't need to change lines (ours is the dark blue one). Now let me think... Saturday is my Mom's birthday so it's unlikely. Let's do it on Sunday? In this case we'll have the whole day for us. As for the places to go - I don't really care. Anything you like. ;) We can do it this way: I'll come to meet you and we visit that craft market (btw, what do they sell there?) and then we can ride the metro and go sight-seeing for a while, stop at a cafe/restaurant, anything. Do you have anything specific in your mind?

Sunday it's then, hope it will be a good day for weather. No, I haven't any specific in mind, I visit all I wanted to see. There is still a park that made me wonder if it was a nice place to see, the Kuskovo Park and Estate, but my guide says that sometime in winter they closed it due to the weather, so I don't know if it's open. The Izmaylovo Craft Market sells pratically everything from boxes, to matrioska, to DVD, dresses, postcards... and I only saw part of it. It's really a crazy place.

Let's say that we meet at 10 at my hotel (when you exit the subway it's the tower just at your left, it has a coffee in the lobby, probably I will be there. I have long dark red (not original ;-)) hair). If 10 is too soon for you let me know what hour do you prefer. And in any case, I will check my email every night, so if you need to tell me something, just leave a message ;-)

10? :))))) Ok, I can do it. ;) I too, think it'd better if we spend time in a daylight. Depends on the weather but probably I'll be in my fur coat so I have to ask: do you mind fur coats? Unfortunately, fur coats are best for Russian winter, but I can find something else so it won't bother you. And I'm really sorry I can't ride you in a car (I have car but I still haven't got my driving licence). I'll leave you my sell phone number in personal messages now and I think it won't hurt if you give me yours. ;)

No, no problem with fur ;-) I personally don't have them but since obviously in Italy usually you don't need them. And if 10 is too soon, tell me, I have nothing against the idea to sleep more on Sunday LOL Elisa

Oh, wow, GUM! Is it still called GUM?

Hope you're feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

Yes, it's still called GUM even if, 8 years later, I think western style eats a bit it's ol fashioned originality. Elisa

Yes, it's one of the fringe benefits of this job, when I haven't to stay up late to meet a due date, or being stuck inside an office when outside there are so many beautiful things to see. Elisa

IF you are interested:
I usually use these guys when I stay in Moscow http://www.flatlink.ru/
They are trustworthy and they are so much better than a hotel - you stay in actual apartment for the same or lower price (at least, for me they are cheaper - I travel with kids).

I travel for work this time and I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but the Russian client is paying for accodation and so he obviously chose. It's not bad, it's near the subway, so I can easily move around during the weekend. Elisa
