Frank Anthony Polito (June 27, 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA) is a Brooklyn-based actor and playwright. He can be seen in the films One True Thing with Meryl Streep and Renee Zellweger, Hitch with Will Smith, and The Peacemaker with George Clooney. He is engaged with Craig Bentley (born November 21), publicist at Kensington Publishing. They have been a couple since December 23, 1989. In 2014 they moved back to Pleasant Ridge, Michigan, not far from Hazel Park, Polito's hometown.

On TV Polito has appeared on Spin City, The Sopranos and One Life to Live. On stage he has worked off-Broadway at Primary Stages and Revelation Theater and played the role of James in the Washington, D.C. premiere of Corpus Christi by Terrence McNally.

Frank's first play, JOHN R, was produced in New York City in 2001 and is the basis for BAND FAGS!. Other plays have been seen at the New York International Fringe Festival, Bailiwick Repertory Theatre in Chicago, Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke, VA, and at The Dayton Playhouse in Dayton, OH.

His teleplay, Blind Faith, was a finalist for the Alfred P. Sloan teleplay competition at Carnegie Mellon University where he received his M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing in 2006.

Frank grew up in the Detroit suburb of Hazel Park, near 10 Mile and John R. He began playing trumpet in 6th grade (but later switched to French horn) and is proud to have been a Band Fag.

Much of Jack Paterno's life in "Band Fags!" reflects Frank Anthony Polito's own personal experiences at Hazel Park High, but Brad is based on someone else - Polito's best friend since seventh grade. "But in a way, Brad is me," the author said. "There are parts of me in Brad that I didn't put in Jack - the love of acting, for example, which wasn't something that my 'real life' Brad did. "I didn't go to my 10-year reunion, because I wasn't out and didn't want people to ask questions," said Frank Anthony Polito, who's been with his partner Craig Bentley since late 1989. "But now I'm going to my 20-year reunion, and over the last six years I've gotten in touch with people, and they were like, Oh, we knew. We were just waiting for you to tell us.

Days of Love chronicles more than 700 LGBT couples throughout history, spanning 2000 years from Alexander the Great to the most recent winner of a Lambda Literary Award. Many of the contemporary couples share their stories on how they met and fell in love, as well as photos from when they married or of their families. Included are professional portraits by Robert Giard and Stathis Orphanos, paintings by John Singer Sargent and Giovanni Boldini, and photographs by Frances Benjamin Johnson, Arnold Genthe, and Carl Van Vechten among others. “It's wonderful. Laying it out chronologically is inspired, offering a solid GLBT history. I kept learning things. I love the decision to include couples broken by death. It makes clear how important love is, as well as showing what people have been through. The layout and photos look terrific.” Christopher Bram “I couldn’t resist clicking through every page. I never realized the scope of the book would cover centuries! I know that it will be hugely validating to young, newly-emerging LGBT kids and be reassured that they really can have a secure, respected place in the world as their futures unfold.” Howard Cruse “This international history-and-photo book, featuring 100s of detailed bios of some of the most forward-moving gay persons in history, is sure to be one of those bestsellers that gay folk will enjoy for years to come as reference and research that is filled with facts and fun.” Jack Fritscher

I am looking forward to reading your books. I am a native of Hazel Park, grew up on Hayes Vassar, and a few other streets around there. I love to check out local natives and their accomplishments. Go Vikings!
