This is a very well balanced movie, not too much "family" like, Sven and Goran are a gay couple and you can "see" that, but they are also an ordinary couple, with the desire to build a family (or at least Goran has). To be "right" for the Social Service clearance, they move in a even too perfect neighborhood, that to me resemble an "American Beauty" nightmare, and it reminded me a bit of Desperate Housewives, even if the set is in Sweden and not USA: Goran, the "wife" of the couple (Sven goes out every morning to work in the city while Goran remains in the suburbs) tries with all his own to mix to the other housewifes, and some of them welcome him as one of them, some others try to seduce the new "available" man, even if he is not so available.
The plot is intelligent and funny, and very, very romantic. It's probably even better since nor Sven or Goran are perfect: Sven's faults are more evident, former alcoholic and bad boy, he is probably not ready to be a father even if he loves Goran; on the other side Goran is so absorbed by his dream to be a father that doesn't realize that maybe Sven is not on his same track.
Very good movie, highly recommended.

Really enjoyed it, though I agree the setting was a bit weird. Do neighbourhoods like that really exist? But it was a lovely film. Sad and funny at the same time.

Out of all the LGTB movies coming out this year, Patrick, Age 1.5 is one of the few I've been eagerly awaiting. I've heard nothing but really good things about it.

I was happy when posters for the movie went up in my local movie theater about three weeks ago. Sadly, no one could give me an actual release date. :(

In any case, I've placed the movie in my To Be Rented queue over at Netflix.

In Italy I think it didn't come out in the theatre so I watched it in DVD. It's for sure one of the best quality LGBT movie everyone should see.

I just watched this film on YouTube on Sunday night! Really great film; I agree that it's well balanced and not too saccharine. Thanks for your review.

You are welcome. It's good when a LGBT movie is not only good in idea but also in realization.
