Before some of you ask: yes, I took this pictures; yes, they are real, not retouched, I use an old reflex Nikon Camera (1971) and a good photographic film (400 ASA).

Ask if you want to kno what place they are: I have travelled all around Scotland, and it's beautiful!

These are very pretty (love Scotland!) but they're huge pictures and you might want to put them behind a cut for the dial up people?

Will you hate me if I say yes, but they still need cutting? ::looks apologetic:: They're smaller but they're still uncut; photos, no matter what of, are usually put behind a cut for dial up people and to give people a choice about seeing them.

You put *lj-cut text="photo"> at the start of the section (or whatever description you want) with the coding for the image and */lj-cut> at the end, replacing * with

Do you joke? I love to learn something new... I'm wondering how "this cut things" works, and know here is the answer. thank you very much. Now is better? I also reduce the images but left the link to the original page.

That looks perfect! I can't tell you how long it took me to get the hang of a cut tag; I just couldn't do it at all.

Thank you ::hugs::

Oh! Those are beautiful pictures! Scotland is a place that tugs at my heart and someday I hope to be able to visit there.

The castle in the very first pic is one of my most favorites. It's absolutely beautiful and the location gives it a serene atmosphere :)

The Eilean Donan Castle is used many times for romance's cover... It's a little tiny castle, beautiful setted. And it is a private property you can visit, but hold by the same clan who held it in the past. Fantastic! ciao, elisa

It was on my list of possible castles to use for settings for the novella I'm writing now, but it just didn't fit in the way I had hoped.

I have a live-cam bookmarked on it. It's very eerie in the mornings just before the sun comes up :)

I'm looking for something roughly about the size of Dunvegan, but I'm not quite sure that Dunvegan is "right". It just doesn't jump out at me as "the one".

I can't find the picture that initially gave me the atmospheric inspiration, but when I find it, I'll post it on my LJ. But what I'm looking for?

Let's see...

* something that's heavily wooded
* not easily accessible
* Highland area
* loch location would be nice
* I'm not a big fan of the "newer architecture" of some of these castles (that makes them seem more of a mansion)

In the story, the castle will be nicknamed something else, and I'm currently researching for the Gaelic meaning of a few words.

*chuckles* And now I'll stop hijacking your post...

Something like this

http://www.cafeaulivre.it/imm0032.JPG

I don't remember the name, but it's near Glencoe and at home I have the journal of my travel, so I can control. When I visited it, it was under restoration, as you can see...

Yes! Kilchurn Castle :D

Just curious... Did they allow you onto the premises or were you only allowed to see it from a distance? I know they've had some issues with gates being locked and cordoned off by the railway, but not sure if that's been opened back up or not.

I'm going to do a little more research to see how it works. Thank you!!!

No. I can only see by distance. It was closed for restoration. Now maybe will be open, I went in Scotland two years ago. ciao, elisa
