I think that Kissing Orion is probably the most accomplished story by Amber Kell I have read till know; Amber Kell is a new author coming out (no pun intended) last year with a long series of short stories. All of them where pleasant enough, but what I have always found in them was little mistakes here and there, like the author was in a rush to publish them and didn’t have the time to have a good editing. But I continued to read them since Amber Kell was also using the stereotype of M/M romance in a nice way, her stories were always light and funny, a style that I think took inspiration from authors like J.L. Langley, authors that I like a lot.

Anywat in Kissing Orion maybe for the first time I didn’t notice any clamorous mistake, or at least not so evident to make me stop my flow of reading to wonder if it was right or wrong. The story was also a little different from the previous common path, no more the little cute bottom, with a vively attitude, who plays with his alpha man like he would do with a domesticated feral beast.

Here Aaron, the chosen mate of a Vampire master, is a cop; sure he is young and pretty, but also more than able to deal with a strong man like Orion. On the other hand, Orion sometime behaved more like a spoiled brat than a vampire master, treating Aaron like a cherished toy he didn’t want to share with anyone.

As often in Amber Kell’s story, what is happening outside the interaction between the two men is not the main course of the story, but only a nice addition to the love story that is center stage. But again, to my surprise, one of the supporting characters, Jonathan Zheng, was more than only a nice addition, and he conquered his place in the reader’s heart, so much that sometime, he was overshading Orion himself.
