Well Dr. Frank-N-Furter is not exactly a gay character, he is gay, straight, bisexual, transgender... he is sex. But he is also a man with stockings and high heels, a man who seduces both bride and groom, he is probably the first LGBT character people all over the world saw without maybe sometime realizing what they were seeing. It was probably the joy and hate of Tim Curry since now everytime you think to him, you see him in stocking, red lip gloss and high heels, but for sure he will always be remembered.

And what a very appropriate film for Halloween. :-)

I remember being blown away by this film and have always had a soft spot for Tim Curry ever since. Such an underestimated actor, I think.

As I said, I think that Tim Curry got stuck with his character, and even if he has not a place in the movie cult history, it was no good for his following career.

I beg to differ. Tim Curry has had a very lucrative and varied career. He can pull off comedy, drama, musicals, anything. He's had so much success, I don't think that most people say "Oh yeah, that's the drag guy from Rocky Horror."

I believe I read somewhere that a lot of the original cast regret doing RHPS, I believe it had something to do with them not getting paid, or not getting royalties or something, which is why Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry and Peter Hinwood have never done any anniversary interviews or benefits. Though last week when Glee did it's tribute episode, Meatloaf and Barry Bostwick both had cameos, so I'm not sure if that article was entirely true.

ops I realized I typed wrongly

"and even if he has NOW a place in the movie cult history"

do you know, probably my impression is weighted by me being a stranger. Not all US or UK production arrives in Italy, and so, while when I think to Susan Sarandon I can link her to other movies (and BTW she was married to an Italian director so she has a huge fanbase here), with Tim Curry I think to him as TRHPS; I'm sure for example that he did a "cluedo" movie, and I remember he was very good there, but I will not cheat and not going searching that title.

Tim has made tons of movies, been in few tv-shows, as well as voice-acting. He might not be making many leads or being that involved in huge productions, but that doesn't mean he's not making movies, or that he doesn't have a good career. It just means you can't picture/remember him in any other role. ;)

And that is totally my fault really ;-) I have quite a side track mind

It's true, though, that he's not a household name, except among a certain population who spent every Friday and/or Saturday night at the midnight showings in their youth. :) He's a wonderful character actor -- check him out as Richelieu in The Three Mousketeers Disney's version of The Three Musketeers, or as the dorky-jerk scientist in The Shadow (the one with Alec Baldwin). He's wonderfully talented, but because he hardly ever gets top billing, he's not in the forefront of movie-goers' awareness. There are a number of movies out there that'd be poorer, though, or at least a lot less fun, without him. :)

Will check that titles, thank you. See, even if I know that are famous movies, I haven't seen them.

Great choice for today! I have to admit, I was a teen who enjoyed a few of the midnight shows in the Boston/Cambridge area during the late 70's.

The storyline is a bit off. Frank is not a vampire, there's no indication whatsoever to it (minus the entrance which was just showing off). He's an alien. :P

Yes, I remember that much. That is the official storyline, maybe he is an aline vampire? ;-) I will correct it though, since I remember that as well

I love this movie. :D I was with a floorshow for a while in my late teens, playing Janet down in front, below the screen, with a bunch of my friends. We weren't that the best floorshow around, but were were there every Saturday night at the Cinema 150 in Santa Clara for... about a year and a half or so, I think, and it was great fun.

Angie, getting nostalgic

I love this film! I could never understand how Tim made wearing a shiny basque so sexy...
I went to see this at the theatre with my sister once - we both have curly hair so both went as Magenta! Fun times :)

Naughty boy! Stocking and high heels at 11 years old, instead of some crush on a sport hero... for that reason you are now such a talented guy!
