Laura Pryce, 17, has just completed her junior year of high school when her parents are killed in a car accident and she must go live with her Great Aunt Melisande, whom she has never met. Once at her aunt's huge and rambling house, she discovers a series of paintings. The faces of the women--all from different historical periods--are the same as hers.

Her aunt tells her it's a weird genetic anomaly--that each generation has the face and that it brings with it an exciting future.
But Laura begins to have strange and terrifying dreams. She seeks out friendship in her aunt's assistant--Jake. Jake, however, has secrets of his own. What happened to his family?

As Laura feels increasingly isolated by her surroundings where cell phones fail to work and internet connections easily die, the dreams escalate until Laura cannot discern the difference between what is really a dream and what is happening at the strange, huge house. All she is certain of is that she is in danger...

You are a MUCH nicer person than me, Elisa. After what she said about you, I would never be able to advertise any venture of hers. I applaud you.

Sincerely I thought about it, but I always try to be impartial and to not consider my personal feelings as a parameter to judge (or promote) books. With Victoria Brownworth we agreed to disagree: I couldn't see things by her perspective, she couldn't see by mine. And moreover, I haven't anything personally against Greg Herren, on the contrary, and I chose to promote the event.
BTW nor Greg Herren or Victoria Brownworth asked for it, it was my own initiative.

No, I understand your perspective, I have a lot of time for Greg and I wish him well.

Astonishing. Brownworth is absolutely certain that a woman cannot write a story about gay men and attacked anyone who dared suggest she might be mistaken--including you--yet she's willing to publish the POV of a teenage girl written by a gay man writing.

I agree with Erastes. You are far more tolerant than I would be.

I wish Mr. Herren all the best with his book... even though, if I remember, he supported Brownworth's tirade all the way. Perhaps he's discovered that one doesn't need ovaries to write a girl.

Again, my philosophy is live and let live. I wish them all the best with this new venture, I'm not much for the thriller/horror/paranormal YA, so probably this is not one of the book I will read. I'm more interested, if I manage to start them, in the gay mysteries by Greg Herren.

You are a model of good grace, Elisa.

I can highly recommend Greg Herren's mysteries. I've read them all, and they are, without exception, well written, well plotted, and charming.

A reason more to start reading them, thank you. Elisa
