Even if it doesn't seem from the picture, I'm in New York ;-) But I decided to visit two places I haven't had the chance to see 9 years ago when I was there: the Morris Jumel Mansion, a Palladio inspiration villa that when was built was a country house and that now resides in Uptown Manhattan and that is actually the oldest home in the island; more it's also a museum since 1904 and it has the one of the best characteristic for me, it's totally avoided by tourists! After that I went to visit The Cloisters; I know that they are not the original cloisters I love so much, but it's actually a very beautiful museum if you love Middle Ages and that type of architecture... I do. After that, the afternoon was spent wandering the town and doing shopping. In the meanwhile I also learned that, when I will be back home, I will have to go to Dublin the week after, and as soon as I will obtain the Visa in Russia, both time for work... September and October seem to be very busy time for me.

As a life long resident of vanishing NYC (though I now live in nearby New Jersey) I must say, you have an eye for seeing things that New Yorkers missed somehow. Too bad you can't roam the city at your leisure and take hundreds of photos. Your eye would be something...

The Cloisters is my favorite museum in NYC -- pain to get to, unless you drive, but so worth it. I almost felt like I was back in a monastery in Provence when I was there. In fact, I think I have those two exact shots that you took.

As always, thank you for the pictures of your travels. I always love to see where you've been, and I'm sorry I couldn't meet up with you this east coast trip. I'm at school about 3 hours from NYC, but school is INSANE right now.

Yes, the Cloisters is probably the best museum in NYC and since it's far from the usual route, it's not so crowded as other are. Maybe we will have the chance to meet to another convention ;-) Elisa

I very much enjoyed a visit I had to The Cloisters. It was a beautiful day in June. You get such a feeling of going far back in time, and the artwork and architecture is just amazing.

I love that period in history, so for me it was the perfect museum. Elisa

I also love The Cloisters and plan to go back someday. I love the museum and its contents, the gardens, as well as the view of the Hudson River.

I can't recall what, if anything, I know about Morris Jumel Mansion. Going to look that up now.

Great pictures, Elisa. I hope you're enjoying your trip. I'll read your other entries soon. :)

Morris Jumel Mansion was also the headquarter of Washington during the Civil War. Plus it came in possess of Eliza, a former prostiture who ended to marry a vice president of United States of America, Burr. Elisa

Did you feel the ghosts at the Jumel Mansion?
The place is loaded with them.
In the upstairs bedroom Mme. Jumel constantly scolds her maid, in French!

Hope you are enjoying your stay here. I doubt I could keep up with you, even if my legs weren't broken. I'm getting better, though.

Keep the photos coming. You have a good eye, sweetie!
