The theme of this anthology is guys in cars...

The Dog-Walker: a man keeps staring every morning a guy who takes out is dog and finally one morning he has the courage to go out of his car and talk to him.

While Wearing Jeans: a recently dumped guy makes a favour to a friend and takes up a perfect stranger at the airport; but the perfect stranger is a cute guy, very sexy and friendly who blames himself cause he has met his soul mate while wearing jeans...

One Year Later: they love each other for weeks but life brings them apart and they decide to meet one year since then. Now, one year later, they are again together...

Rossi and White: they are best friend since childhood and always together. Everyone sees Rossi like an ego guy but White. But some months ago they have had an argument and not speak since then. Now White is come to pick up Rossi from University...

Crash: they have had a car accident. They are in the opposite cars. But now they have found each other.

Off-track: they are not more a couple since 5 months, but love is still in the air. And now that he has admited to himself that everything he wants is his lover back with him, he doesn't need to spend the night in his car to smell him, he can smell directly the source.

The Hitchhiker: he is like his lost lover, he is hitchhiking like him and he has nowhere to go. And maybe he can give him an house like he would do with the son he has never had, the son of his beloved.

I Dare You: they are different; good next door boy and bad boy. But they were friends. Then life drew them apart, and he is still mourning the loss of his friend and beloved. But then he dares him to give a chance to this love.

Camville: he has nothing to live for in his hometown. He drives to find a reason to live. And he finds Camville, and a new house, a new family, a new dog and a hot handsome new lover.

They are all very good short story. More I read by Matthew Haldeman-Time and more I want to read. He is a very talented storyteller. In few pages he manages to paint a whole universe and leaves you eager to read more. While Wearing Jeans, Rossi and White, I Dare You and Camville are wonderful tales, worthy of more: the characters are so vivid and captivating that you want to know about them.

A very good anthology, don't miss it!

Gay Commercial: Ray Ban's Never Hide

Sunglass manufacturer and style icon Ray-Ban five years ago began their “Never Hide” campaign, but now it’s become gay inclusive — a gorgeous development. Begun in 2007, Never Hide was created to make the now-75-year old company more enticing and appealing to a younger market. One of their newest ads features two men dressed in 1940′s-era business suits, walking down a cosmopolitan street, holding hands, with the headline “Never Hide,” at the top of one version, and on the bottom of another. The image is part of a campaign by the advertising agency Marcel, in Paris, France.



“Never pretend. Never be afraid. Never give up. Never Hide,” a 2007 press release reads:

The campaign, comprised of a film and a series of situations for print media, outdoor and the Internet, was created and is developed around the concept “NEVER HIDE.” Having the courage to express your true self, your thoughts and your personality genuinely, to stay faithful to the values of authenticity and uniqueness have, in fact, made up the DNA of the Ray-Ban brand since its beginning in 1937 to today. Down and Dirty by G.A. Hauser

Again I had the feeling that G.A. Hauser “matured” with this novel, or maybe she decided that she doesn’t care of what people think romance should be and she wrote what she likes. Jean is a modern Alice in the Wonderland who falls into a hole, figuratively speaking but also for real; when he enters D&D’s tattoo shop, what he thinks he wants is a small tattoo in a place no one will see, especially now that Jean is single and without prospect partners around; what he finds are two hot men plus one to spare who are more than ready to show Jean a completely different world.

Harry, the shop owner, is 29 years old, very handsome and a little brooding; he had a very bad experience in the past and now he is very careful to give his heart. Clyde, Harry’s adoptive brother, his 39 years old, wanna-be porn star, and as open as Harry is closed; Clyde is very possessive of Harry and not in a brotherly way, and where I know I shouldn’t like his character, he is yes possessive but also obsessive, I think he is the more fragile of the two. Clyde helped Harry when he was down, but at the time Harry was only a teenager, now instead he is a grown man, and he grew stronger and steadier than Clyde. The spare guy is Sam, who joins Clyde and Harry when they want to play, and the new play thing is Jean.

There is a lot of sex, down and dirty sex, a little on the BDSM side, but mostly for the fun not as life choice. Jean at first has this idea of romance, made of courtship and bed of roses, and instead he finds immediate sex and satisfaction and a dungeon to play… the guy is fast to change is idea and to understand that this is his chance and he hasn’t to let it go. Champagne and roses can wait, in the meantime he will enjoy the immediate gratification.

The story is more complex than the sex, the one between Harry and Jean is the easier relationship, what gives complexity to the plot is the bond between Harry and Clyde, made of love and hate, tenderness and irritation. It’s strange since it’s Clyde that pushes Harry to let it go with Jean, but then he is the first to try to stop him when things get serious, like he wasn’t expecting for Harry to follow his push.

G.A. Hauser are not romance for all, but if you manage to enter her world made of real gay men, every novel is a discovery.
